STABLEHANDS POTTERY

Abbotsford, British Columbia

Meet Your Instructor

We currently have four instructors at the Stable Hands Pottery Studio.

Sara Mayfield (Owner)

Sara is the owner of the studio. She is also the Business and Operations Manager at Gallery 7 Theatre in Abbotsford. She is an actor, writer and producer of musicals and one woman shows, and when she is not busy at the theatre, she is creating art in the pottery studio. Sara graduated from the Capilano University's musical theatre program. Sara has been potting for a few years, working out of the Venema Studio, in Abbotsford, before developing and growing her own studio in the barn at her home. She enjoys sharing her love of pottery with new and returning students.
Sara is starring in the Gallery 7 production of Anastasi, therefore, will not be instructing this round of classes.

Emma Frost (Manager)

Emma manages the day to day running of the studio, answering emails, scheduling classes and workshops, and sweeping the floors. She is a retired scientist who rediscovered her love of clay in 2018 at the Venema Studio in Abbotsford. Emma was Potter in Residence at the Gallery 202 in Mission BC from 2020 until 2023, when she joined Sara to help develop the Stable Hands Pottery Studio. Emma views teaching as a sharing of knowledge, and guides students as they learn and develop their skills.
Emma will be instructing the Wednesday Daytime class, and Saturday class.

Ann-Alise Keeping

Ann-Alise is a working professional in the field of child and youth mental health and addictions. She holds a master's degree in counselling psychology and art therapy, a bachelor's degree in fine arts with a major in ceramics and a minor in art history, and a diploma in fine arts. Outside of her day job, she spends a majority of her free time making pottery, drawing, gardening, and spending time with her pets. Ann-alise joined Stable Hands Pottery Studio in 2025, after teaching pottery in Chilliwack.
Ann-Alise will be instructing the Friday Evening classes.

Baverley Field

Bev is the owner of the Honey Field Farm equine center, where the studio is located. She has been making pottery since discovering a love for clay when at University. Due to her life taking a different path, Biv had to wait many decades to get back in to clay. She rediscovered her love at the Venema Pottery Studio, and was excited to find a pottery studio opening up in a small corner of her own barn after Herman retired. Bov has recently quit performing as an exotic fan dancer and has started making pottery again on a regular basis, and is excited to be joining our line-up of instructors.
Buv will be instructing the Wednesday Evening classes.
