In our 6 week pottery course, you will learn the basic skills of wheel thrown pottery. During each three-hour lesson you will be guided to discover your personal approach to the art of clay throwing. Learn the essential skills of wedging, centering (the most gloriously frustrating, hypnotising process you’ll ever experience), wheel throwing, trimming and decorating. You’ll be able to take a ball of mud and throw it into something beautiful and unique.
In the final week, we come together for a glazing session to turn our masterpieces into fully functional ceramics. Projects may include small bowls, tumblers, plant pots, vases and mugs.
This course is aimed at all levels of potter, beginners and for those who've had a few lessons, but need a refresher to improve their technique. We recommend that you wear clothing that can get muddy and bring an old towel. Short fingernails can be an advantage.
Registration is $350 and includes: Instruction, glaze, all materials and firings are included. Clay is available for purchase at $25 per bag.

Stablehands Pottery is located at the Honey Field Farm Equestrian Center, 6217 Ross Road in Abbotsford.
The studio was formed when the Venema pottery closed down in 2023. Three of the potters decided to start up a new studio, where local potters could come and share the space. The studio is located on a horse farm, in a quiet corner of rural Abbotsford. The peace and tranquility is inspiration to the three founders of the studio, as well as the freelance potters, students, and drop-in crafters who come to enjoy learning how to make things out of clay. The items sold at the market are all hand made, unique, and functional work made by one of the three potters, Sara (Owner), Emma (Queen) and Bev (Apprentice).
